Carroll’s Turkeys

Through its Carroll’s Turkey division, Murphy-Brown, LLC has a business relationship with 192 independent turkey producers who grow animals on a contractual basis. Carroll’s Turkeys, with its headquarters located in Warsaw, North Carolina, is one of the nations leading turkey producers.

Growers for Carroll’s Turkeys produce approximately 10 million birds a year to meet customers’ demands. The company supplies over 300 million pounds of turkey each year to Butterball LLC, which is jointly owned by Smithfield Foods and others.

As with contract hog production, Carroll’s Turkeys provides the animals to the producer as well as feed, veterinary services, production technical support and transportation. The producer provides the growing facilities and day-to-day care and management of the animals.

Carroll’s Turkeys is a division of Murphy-Brown, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, Inc.

Grower Testimonials

“What I appreciate most about growing with Carroll’s Turkeys is that, no matter who you are, these folks are always very approachable. From the service staff who are on the ground with us helping us manage the animals to the management staff who orchestrate the whole process, our objectives are the same—to be the best that we can be at what we do. That’s a never ending process with Carroll’s Turkeys because they are never satisfied with the status quo, always trying new things and tweaking the process. They’ll never say ‘Well, we’ve finally got it, we’re as good as we can get.”

“An unconditional requirement set forth by the management and staff of Carroll’s Turkeys to its growers is that while working to make the farms economically viable, we support approaches to agriculture that are ecologically sound and socially responsible. I appreciate that and so do my neighbors. As farmers and growers for Carroll’s Turkeys, we’re stewards of the environment and we must maintain our standards and remain committed to this endeavor for the benefit of our children and grandchildren.”

“I’m not usually one to put all my eggs in one basket, and I’ll admit I didn’t know a lot about the turkey business to begin with, but I’m working with some good people at Carroll’s Turkeys who have helped me figure it out. Growing with Carroll’s Turkeys has allowed me accomplish what I set out to do and provided me with the opportunity to get ahead. That’s not an easy task these days, especially for someone my age.

I have two college degrees and neither one of them have anything to do with agriculture, but I’m a turkey farmer through and through and I love it. I’m fortunate to be here, I’m thankful for the opportunity, and I’ll do the very best I can with it.”
